The Initial Intake Process
When parents call TALK to inquire about speech and language services, an initial intake assessment is scheduled with the directors and/or coordinators. Prior to the initial intake assessment, parents are asked to fill out a client history form, which provides information about your child’s medical and developmental history, including speech and language skills. During the COVID-19 shelter-in-place mandate, TALK is offering complimentary speech and language evaluations via teletherapy.
At TALK, each child undergoes an initial intake assessment. During initial intake assessment, which typically lasts between 30 minutes to one hour, we will get to know you and your child, understand your child’s strengths and weaknesses, and hear your concerns regarding your child’s communication. Following the informal evaluation, filling out a history form, and parent interview, we will determine if your child would benefit from speech and language therapy.
